Psalm 75
"...we give thanks, for your Name is near..."
The word Name denotes the very nature and character of God. This verse tells us that His character and nature is near. How much nearer can a person get to God than having the Holy Spirit dwell within. Talk about near!
"You say, I choose the appointed time;"God's time is not our time. It is hard for us as humans to understand God's perspective of time, isn't it?
"When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm"
Praise God that no matter what happens to us in this life, no matter how much we may "shake" or the affairs of the world around us may "shake", He holds the pillars firm! His statutes include the laws of the universe; science, physics, math, etc.
Psalm 93
The majesty of God’s Kingdom eclipses all others.
"Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity..."
God has always been and will always be.
Psalm 94
Believers in Jesus may be cast down but they can never be cast off.
Eph 1:18
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
Believers cannot be utterly forsaken because they are God’s inheritance in Jesus.
“Rise up, O Judge of the earth;”
Who is the judge of the earth? (John 5:22, Gen. 18:25)
“Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord,”
Like a loving parent disciplines a child, so the Lord disciplines us. (Heb 12:11)
“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your love, O Lord supported me.”
When we feel ourselves slipping out of fellowship with the Father, we should tell Him!
Anybody out there been “slipping” lately???
"When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."
What a great plan! God turns our anxiety into joy!
"Can a corrupt throne be allied with you, one that brings on misery by its decrees?"
Can Christianity mix with other pagan religions?
Psalm 97
The first part of this psalm tells what will happen during the Day of the Lord. (see chapters 18-20 of the book These Last Days)
Psalm 98
Notice in this psalm are many statements that are made in the future perfect tense. Even though we may not have seen these things happen yet, they WILL happen. When God says it, it's done. When the seed is in the ground, the bread is already on the table in God's eyes.
How can anyone read this psalm and not understand that the psalmist knew the Savior? Jesus is God's right hand, His holy arm, His salvation. This is the "new song".
"Let the rivers clap their hands,"
Have you ever heard the sound of a waterfall, or river rapids? Doesn't it sound as if the water is clapping hands? Do the rivers know how to applaud and praise the Creator?
Psalm 99
"Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy."
What a great place to be - at the feet of Jesus, worshiping Him!
